Dawn To Dusk

One old blouse with ditsy floral prints. Two looks.

I was inspired by AUrate New York to share how I would go about transitioning my wardrobe from day-to-night and had to sit down and think for a bit as I’ve always been on my owl shift that there my day-to-night look often veers into casual-to-lounge territory even though I hustle pretty hard slaying ghosts after sunset.

Of course, there are days where I have to brave the morning sun, stop being a vampire and practise being an adult.

And based off the type of outfits I wear on these days, let me just share with you my simple method of dressing for the day when I have errands to attend to and the night when a potential dinner date might materialize, which honestly will be in the form of my cats. On this particular evening, however, I was quite lucky and it was a date with a gorgeous tree.

The main thing about my casual day look is it stresses on utter casual simplicity. I wore an old floral printed blouse as a light layering outerwear over a black tank, pale blue jeans and a pair of studded kicks. To transition this ever casual getup to a night-worthy one, I eliminated the tank top and jeans (not that these are barred from my night-time OOTD routine, let’s be real, now).

The navy blouse with ditsy floral stayed put and I slipped into a flared knit midi skirt in deep red that immediately made me feel like a lady. Not that I wasn’t before but wearing skirts almost always magnified these feelings.

Now, let’s move on to the pictures so you can just eyeball the way I take it from day-to-night in a quick jiff.

DAY OOTD: Casual Jeans Girl Mode

Apparently, I am a master at standing awkwardly. If you’re looking for weird standing poses, I’m available for bookings.

I got my second-day curly hair styled by this awesome ceramic brush with the heat.

I’ve had this blouse for a very long time, you can see it has naturally distressed itself in some parts. I love how soft it is on my skin, a perfect tropical weather fabric!

Meet The Lucky Majestic Tree

I debated in my head if I should get myself up on a branch or stand under one but I quickly realized I don’t want to rush our sacred relationship.

Will you just stop everything, pause, look at and admire this beauty?

Being a person who wears necklaces rarely, I love the dainty ones that just go with everything. If I had to pick from AUrate’s collection, a gold bar necklace would be the perfect choice as it embodies of the spirit of minimalism and I have strong love for its chic geometric appeal.

So, what do you think of my casual day-to-night outfit transformation? Do you find the tree as epic as I did? What have you lot been up to now that it’s already February? Share away below – I love reading each one of your lovely comments so feel free to commit verbal diarrhoea down below.

A quote by the ever phenomenal Phylicia Rashad to touch your heart:

“Loving oneself isn't hard, when you understand who and what 'yourself' is. It has nothing to do with the shape of your face, the size of your eyes, the length of your hair or the quality of your clothes. It's so beyond all of those things and it's what gives life to everything about you. Your own self is such a treasure.”
